26th academic concert on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the University of Silesia in Cieszyn and the Univeristy of Silesia Day

On Tuesday, 31 May 2022 at 6 p.m. at the Adam Mickiewicz Theatre in Cieszyn, a jubilee gala concert will be held.The Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice, prof. Ryszard Koziołek and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Educational Science in Cieszyn, Krzysztof Marek Bąk, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor invite you to participate.

During the first part of the celebration, the distinctions of the Senate of the University of Silesia will be awarded. The “Pro Scientia et Arte” awards will also be given to Prof. Barbara Kożusznik representing the fields of humanities, social sciences, theology and art; and Prof. Grzegorz Racki, representing the field of natural sciences, who will deliver a lecture on “Great ecological disasters in the history of the Earth”. In addition, the title of the Honorary Professor of the University of Silesia will be given to Prof. Tadeusz Bujnicki – an outstanding historian of Polish literature, while the Medal of the University of Silesia in Katowice will be awarded to Kazimierz Karolczak – chairman of the board of the Metropolis GZM. The golden badge “For Merit for the University of Silesia in Katowice” will be awarded to Aldona Sylwa, the director of the County Complex of Healthcare Institutions in Czeladź.

The official part of the concert will be hosted by Małgorzata Mendel, PhD, Associate Professor, from the Faculty of Arts and Educational Science.

An event accompanying the concert at the Faculty of Arts and Educational Science in Cieszyn will be the inauguration of the restored church organ. The event will be combined with a 15-minute recital by Tomasz Orlow, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof. from the Faculty of Arts and Educational Science. The performance will take place in the chamber hall of the University of Silesia in Cieszyn from 12.30 p.m to 1.30 p.m.
