The 33rd Welconomy Forum is being held in Toruń from 23 to 24 February 2026. One of the events prepared for participants is a panel discussion entitled ‘Why, why connect? Why doesn’t it work? Can it be done differently?’, which will be attended among others by Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice and Prof. Celina Olszak, Rector of the University of Economics in Katowice. Among other things, participants will discuss the development prospects of the country’s universities and the possibilities and desirability of their potential merger.

Welconomy is a cyclical economic and socio-economic forum that takes place in Toruń and brings together representatives of business, science, politics, public administration and the media. The event discusses current economic, socio-economic, and political challenges. The organiser is the Integration and Cooperation Association.
