We are continuing our work on prototyping the space around Rawa! Join us on 12 November 2022.

In October, at the campus of the University of Silesia near Rawa, we created a prototype of a green and safe place. In order to offer a user-friendly space, we introduced temporary solutions – urban furniture, picnic tables and plant pots to demonstrate that an effective transformation of this space is possible.

In the work done so far, it was important for us to symbolically mark the idea of expanding the Rawa valley. We wanted to show that its immediate surroundings are the green backbone of the campus, the ribs of which are the streets and academic squares associated with the headquarters of Katowice universities.

The next step is an extremely important element of the design process – encouraging the users of this space to take part in the discussion about the directions of its development. From 12 November, we want to listen to the voices of those who are already visiting this place or may visit it in the future, when it changes its function and arrangement. We will be meeting with people who visit the USil campus every day to talk about the vision of transforming the Rawa area and building the Green Science Zone.

The interviews from 12 to 17 November will be conducted by people associated with the Metropolitan Prototyping School. We want to find even more inspiration for transformation planning. Together with those using this area, we want to consider by whom and how this area should be used, and what needs to change around Rawa.

We will present the collected information in the form of recommendations that will be used when planning a permanent change of the Green Science Zone.

The prototyping process was prepared and implemented by the Academic Consortium “Katowice – City of Science” in cooperation with Metropolis GZM.
