Every 10 years, scientists from around the world establish research priorities for the Arctic as part of the Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP 4).

After two years of intensive work, reports outlining priorities, needs, recommendations, and an implementation plan for research, technology, and logistical operations in the Arctic have been published. These documents will serve as a guide leading up to the upcoming Fifth International Polar Year.

One of the coordinators of the RPT 7 team: Technology, Infrastructure, Logistics, and Services was Dariusz Ignatiuk, PhD, Chair of the Centre for Polar Studies.

The team from the Centre for Polar Studies, together with the BERA Logistics and Research Centre, actively participates in international bodies and in the implementation and leadership of research projects, strengthening the international position of the University of Silesia in Katowice.
