The University of Silesia in Katowice will host Prof. Martin Euwema from Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), who will conduct a series of meetings: a specialist seminar, open lectures, specialist lectures, and individual consultations realised with the University of Silesia authorities and employees responsible for staff development policy.
The meetings will take place within the framework of the Building competencies of future – intrapreneurship and social dialogue project realised by “Metropolitan Science Support Fund” of the Metropolis GZM. The entire initiative will receive content-related support from the Interdisciplinary Centre for Staff Development at the University of Silesia in Katowice. The project is complementary with the Centre’s activities regarding the competencies of future development in the region and building social dialogue for their sake.
About the lecturer
Prof. Martin Euwema from Catholic University of Leuven is one of the most prominent specialists in Europe dealing with building competencies, especially in the field of intrapreneurship and social dialogue. He holds the title of full professor in organizational psychology, he is also a Chair of the research group O2L (Department of Work and Organisational Psychology and Training Science) and co-director of the Leuven Center for Collaborative Management. His research interests are leadership, change, human resource management, industrial relations, conflict management and mediation. He has lectured at various universities and business schools around the world. He is currently visiting professor at the universities of Copenhagen, Beijing Institute of Technology (Beijing) and the University of Sevilla. He has over 30 years of experience as a consultant and mediator. In his research, he deals mainly with: dealing with stress and interpersonal conflict in the workplace, combining work, study and private life in a physical, digital and virtual environment, cooperation in various teams, promotion of intrapreneurship, dealing with difficult managers, developing personal competences in building a safe and pleasant working climate, soft skills, as well as the topic of women in managerial positions.
Prof. M. Euwema has published over 150 articles and 15 books. For his academic work, he received the Weilun Distinguished Visiting Professorship – the most prestigious award at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He is also the co-founder of the Leuven Center for Collaborative Management (LCM) and the patron of the LCM-Student Association – an interdisciplinary group focused on developing competences in negotiation and conflict management.

Building competencies of future – intrapreneurship and social dialogue project has been financed by the Metropolis GZM within the “Metropolitan Science Support Fund” programme in 2019-2022. The fund amounted to PLN 41,233.
