Do you have an unusual vision for your studies? Make it a reality!
Let’s start with you. From your ideas, plans, and passions that do not fit into just one category. Are you interested in all things related to physics, but at the same time want to learn more about the world of media? Or are you thinking about studying biology but don’t want to give up on psychology or history? Then we have some good news!
At the College of Interdisciplinary Individual Studies, you do not have to choose a single degree programme. You can combine several fields and make them truly your own. A programme tailored just for you!
Before you make a decision, answer some questions for yourself:
- Do you have more than one interest and don’t want to give up any of them?
- Do you want to decide for yourself what you learn and what your schedule looks like?
- Are you looking for someone to help you develop, not just give you a grade?
- Do you care about practical knowledge, projects, and cooperating with others?
- Thinking about creating a future for yourself that doesn’t fit into a single definition of a profession?
If you have answered positively at least once, then the Interdisciplinary Individual Studies is the correct choice for you.
Your selection, your map, your way
At the College of Individual Interdisciplinary Studies, you can enrol in:
- 1st cycle studies (Bachelor’s/engineering)
How does it work? You choose one or more of the leading degree programmes in which you will complete your degree, and supplement your plan with subjects from other areas. In addition, you receive the support of a supervisor who will become your guide. They will help you organise your education plan, drive you to act, develop and lend their expertise. The fruit of your cooperation will be a term paper, focused on your scientific interests.
- 2nd cycle studies (Master’s)
You move up to the next level: in addition to further specialisation and broadening your educational background, you have the opportunity to experience first-hand what it is like to work in interdisciplinary teams. How?
The most important component of 2nd cycle studies at the College is working in Teams for Developing Solutions to Miscellaneous Problems. A miscellaneous problem is one that cannot be solved within a single discipline. Students at the College learn how to form and work in teams made up of specialists from different fields, and then, under the guidance of a tutor, work to solve a specific problem and often cooperate with different institutions and companies.
In recent years, teams developing solutions to miscellaneous problems have taken on the following topics, among others:
- Women’s unpaid work – issues, background, challenges for the future,
- Antioxidants in selected Polish spirits. A physico-chemical and cultural perspective,
- Nanotechnology: current opportunities and risks associated with the use of nanosilver.
As with the 1st cycle studies, you will receive a diploma in your chosen leading subject.
At the College of Individual Interdisciplinary Studies, you also have the opportunity to study in a long-cycle studies programme. In addition, we carry out individual teacher studies. This is the University of Silesia’s response to the needs of its most talented high school graduates who wish to study on an individual basis. The curriculum allows for the optimisation of teacher education, enabling the simultaneous pursuit of several development pathways, extended professional practice, and participation in interdisciplinary educational projects.
Each of them gives you the freedom to create a programme tailored to your ambitions and plans.
