Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to inform you that in connection with the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 25 March 2022 on the establishment of certain restrictions, orders and bans due to the epidemic situation (details), the COVID-19 security level in force at the University of Silesia will be lowered effective 30 March 2022. The security level 0 (marked in green) will once again be effective at the University. The relevant rules for the operation of the University are set out in Regulation no. 179 of the Rector of the University of Silesia of 16 October 2020.

The University will still maintain basic hygiene and security measures and will return to the traditional, on-site forms of education and work with the following exceptions:

It is recommended to return to on-site education during all classes. In exceptional situations and by notifying the relevant Vice-Rector, the dean can make a decision to continue conducting classes remotely.

It is recommended to maintain the applicable rules of basic sanitary rigour, including disinfecting, keeping distance, and wearing masks in closed spaces, particularly when you have symptoms possibly indicating a SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Work or class absence due to observing in yourself symptoms possibly indicating a SARS-CoV-2 infection will still be excused subject to undergoing a PCR test in a healthcare facility. In case of suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection, it is advisable to undergo such a test.

Simultaneously, we will monitor the course of the epidemic, in particular, the number and pace of infections in our community. In the event of any alarming signals, the higher security level could be reinstated.

Prof. Ryszard Koziołek

Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice
