Lemland 2021 – international poster competition

2021 is the year of Stanisław Lem. On this occasion, international competition Lemland 2021 for a poster dedicated to the author of “Solaris” was announced.

LemLand 2021, whose goal is to promote Stanisław Lem and his works, is another form of commemorating the great writer. The object of the competition is to make a poster referring directly to the writer, his works and their numerous adaptations (not only movies), as well as to interesting issues concerning our future. The authors of competition works may also take up the subjects of nature and rate of changes in our reality driven by the development of technology and its culture-building role.

The competition is organised by: Pedagogical University of Kraków, University of Silesia in Katowice, Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, University of Ostrava, China Europe Design Culture Association (CEIDA) and Dydo Poster Gallery. The project is coordinated by Dr Marcin Urbańczyk from the Institute of Graphics and Design at the Department of Visual Communication of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, graduate of the University of Silesia.

The competition is open for artists and designers across the world. Students of art and design study programmes can also participate. The deadline for sending works is 1 July 2021.

Posters in the physical (printed) form of can be watched during the official exhibition in Dydo Poster Gallery in Kraków, at ul. Focha 1. The vernissage is planned for September 2021. Selected competition works will be presented during the 5th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE in the autumn of 2021. Selected works will be exposed in the digital form on displays.

Competition requirements

Each work should be sent in two formats: one for printing, one for displaying on screens.

Technical requirements for the printed version:

  • JPG or PDF format, CMYK, 100×70 cm, 200 DPI, maximum files size: 10 MB, vertical orientation, file name: Country_Name_Surname_Poster-Title_print.

Technical requirements for the screen display version:

  • JPG or PNG, RGB, maximum 3000 pixels on the longer side, maximum file size: 10 MB, vertical orientation, file name: Country_Name_Surname_Poster-Title_screen.

 

Competition works in digital version should be sent through the form available on the competition website: lemland2021.pl/zgloszenie.
