We are coming back!
Dear Scholars, Teachers, Employees, Students, and PhD Students of the University of Silesia,
I would like to greet you with my greatest pleasure, finally, within the walls of our University. Months of isolation – tamed by remote learning – confirmed my belief that a university can only fulfil its mission of teaching and educating when it becomes a real community that lives, works, and communicates. The socialisation of knowledge, repeated every day in our joint scientific and pedagogical work, gives a university its meaning, which is confirmed by the appreciation and respect for the University expressed publicly also outside its borders.
We are returning to the University, branded by the experience of the pandemic, anxious about the future of the world, both the smaller Polish and the bigger of the entire Earth. Facing these worries, we should remember that, as an academic community, we have a unique thing, an institution and a community of wisdom. May the strength of your scientific and didactic achievements, along with the value of the daily work of all members of our community, be a support for us, and for our students, may it be the confirmation that studying at the University of Silesia gives them benefits, meaning and hope.
I wish you all good health, success and joy of being together again in the new academic year 2021/2022.
I invite you to watch the broadcast of the inauguration ceremony of the new academic year, starting at 11 a.m. and to read the inaugural publication: https://us.edu.pl/wp-content/uploads/pliki/publikacja_inauguracyjna-2021.pdf.
