The results of the 21st edition of the fellowship competition for outstanding young researchers have been announced. Among the winners were the following researchers from the University of Silesia in Katowice:

  • Michał Kisiel, PhD (Faculty of Humanities),
  • Wojciech Sitek, PhD (Faculty of Humanities),
  • Monika Szynol, PhD (Faculty of Social Sciences),
  • Maciej Mazur, MA (Doctoral School).

The fellowship programme run by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education aims to recognise and provide financial support to the most promising young researchers at an early stage of their careers. The fellowships are intended to ensure stable conditions for development and research, to motivate further work, and to raise the standard of Polish research on an international scale. Another key objective of the programme is to prevent the brain drain of young talent from Polish science.

Doctoral students or academic staff without a PhD, individuals preparing a doctoral thesis on a part-time basis, as well as those holding a PhD, were eligible to apply for the fellowships.
