Summary of City Week in the City of Science

City Week began with the opening of an architectural exhibition at the City Information Center, where designs of modern and futuristic buildings were presented. The exhibition was accompanied by a lecture ‘The future of urban architecture’ given by Ania Nowak, PhD, Eng., which focused on sustainable urban development and the impact of technology on shaping urban space.

Numerous workshops on urban and spatial planning were held during the week. During one of them, ‘City of the future: green roofs and walls’, urban ecology specialists presented the benefits of using green roofs and walls in the context of improving the quality of life of residents and environmental protection.

Another important elements of the programme were debates on city development and civic participation. During the debate ‘Building a common city: the role of residents and decision-makers’, social participation experts discussed methods of engaging residents in decision-making processes and the benefits of active participation in the life of the local community.

During the week, there were also events focusing on culture and art. The ‘Culture in the City’ series included theatre shows, concerts and artistic exhibitions aimed at promoting local talents and integrating the community through art.

Cooperation with local universities and cultural institutions resulted in the organization of the ‘City Cultural Festival’, which attracted crowds of residents and tourists. The festival offered a rich artistic programme, including concerts, exhibitions, workshops and theatre performances that took place in various squares and streets of the city.

During City Week, events dedicated to children and youth also took place. As part of the ‘Young Creators’ programme, artistic workshops, meetings with creators and animations for the youngest were held, aimed at developing creativity and cultural interests among the youngest residents.

The end of City Week was highlighted by the outdoor event ‘Night Lights of the City’, during which the city centre came alive in amazing illumination, and residents had the opportunity to admire spectacular light shows and artistic installations that introduced a unique atmosphere and atmosphere of celebration. City Week was an opportunity to reflect on the future and development of the city, promote culture and art, as well as integrate the local community through various events and activities.
