During New Technology Week, residents of the Silesian agglomeration had the opportunity to participate in various scientific events that introduced the fascinating world of modern technologies and scientific research.
The official opening of the ‘Accelerating Science’ exhibition dedicated to research at CERN was one of the main events of the week. This exhibition took participants into the mysterious world of elementary particle physics, enabling them to explore the latest discoveries and experiments conducted at the centre. Interactive stands and meetings with scientists provided participants with valuable experiences and enabled a better understanding of the microcosmos of physics. The exhibition was open throughout the week.
A series of lectures and workshops for young people, students and science enthusiasts, presenting topics from smart materials to energy transformation and the applications of 3D printing in the fight against COVID-19, also attracted the attention of Katowice residents. Workshops on 3D printing technology enabled young people to learn about the various applications of this innovative technology, which may have a significant impact on their future scientific interests and professional careers.
An important element of the programme of scientific events were discussions on the key challenges of modern science. There was a debate on nanotechnology as an opportunity or a threat, and issues related to enterprise management in the cloud were presented. Conferences and symposia, such as the 4th BPM 2024 Symposium or the Young Explorers’ Club Conference, provided a platform for exchanging experiences and presenting the latest scientific research conducted by young scientists.
The whole week was full of events focused on developing knowledge, inspiring and encouraging to search for new solutions in the world of science and technology. It attracted the attention of both enthusiasts and professionals. Thanks to this, residents of the Silesian agglomeration had the opportunity to expand their knowledge and scientific interests and participate in discussions on the future of technology and scientific research.
During New Technology Week weekend, science enthusiasts had the opportunity to participate in fascinating events that shed light on the impact of new technologies on various areas of life. It is worth highlighting a few of them.
One of the key events was the ‘Offlajnowi’ workshop, which offered practical tips on dealing with information overload and Internet addiction. In the Silesian agglomeration, where new technologies are common, such workshops provided residents with valuable tools to implement in their everyday lives.
Additionally, the ‘Food chain’ symposium paid attention on issues related to sustainable development in the food sector. Residents of the agglomeration had the opportunity to learn more about the challenges related to food production and distribution, as well as learn about technological innovations aimed at reducing the negative impact on the environment.
Free eye tests organized by Silesian optometry were extremely attractive to residents, giving them the opportunity to benefit from professional tests and advice on eye health.
Events were also planned for young residents of the agglomeration. Micromechanical and tribological workshops and a design competition not only provided them with entertainment, but also encouraged them to explore the fields of science and technology.
