Minister of Science, Dariusz Wieczorek, and Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Przemysław Koperski, visited the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences of the University of Silesia on 25 March 2024.
The meeting with the academic community (students, PhD students, academic teachers and employees) was held in the conference centre. The topics of the talks concerned changes in the higher education system in Poland, the principles of evaluation and qualifications obtained as part of education in artistic fields. The participants discussed the criteria for awarding scholarships to students, employing young scientists, and academic infrastructure.
During the visit, students and academic staff of the Institute of Music performed a music concert, which was a combination of folk, jazz and pop music. The Minister of Science, who is a passionate drummer, was invited to perform one of the songs together with the students from the MANU band. The ministers also visited the University Gallery, where an exhibition of works by Prof. Lech Kołodziejczyk ‘Metaphor in painting. War Icons’ is presented.
