Prof. Wiesław Banyś, Rector of the University of Silesia in 2008–2016, has received “Pro Juvenes” award in the “authority for student community” category. The results were announced during the 8th Student Community Award Gala. “Pro Juvenes” awards are granted by the Students’ Parliament of the Republic of Poland. Their goal is to promote active students and their initiatives, as well as to emphasize the merits of individuals and units that are student-friendly and suppport the potential of young people.
Prof. Wiesław Banyś has held the following positions: Rector of the University of Silesia (2008–2016), Chair of the Conference of Rectors of Universities in Poland (2008–2012), Chair of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (2012–2016), and currently he is the Vice-Chair of the General Council for Higher Education.
