Award for the best monograph on modern technologies

Research team supervised by the director of the Silesian Centre for Legal Engineering, Technology and Digital Competence CYBER SCIENCE, Prof. Dariusz Szostek, Associate Professor, has received an award for the best monograph on modern technologies in 2021. Their publication “Legal tech. Czyli jak bezpiecznie korzystać z narzędzi informatycznych w organizacji, w tym w kancelarii oraz dziale prawnym” (Legal Tech. How to safely use IT tools in an organisation, including law offices and in the legal departments) was appreciated in the competition of the 8th Electronic Media Law Forum.

The awarded team includes scientists associated with the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia in Katowice and the CYBER SCIENCE Centre: Prof. Dariusz Szostek, Associate Professor; Gabriela Bar, PhD; Dr Eng. Rafał Prabucki, Rafał Skotnicki, MSc and Jakub Wyczik, MSc.

The awarded publication is a comprehensive discussion on the issue of combining the law of new technologies with the work of a lawyer. It combines legal and technical issues that influence the understanding of law. The book consists of three parts: theory and law; practical comments; and futorological outline.

The competition of the Electronic Media Law Forum has been organised for a few years. In previous editions, the award was granted to Prof. Katarzyna Grzybczyk from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia. The award jury consists of professors who undertake research in the field of new technologies law. The jury also includes all the winners of the competition from previous years. In accordance with the rules and regulations of the competition, the publications are verified by the jury whose role is to select and award one of the entries.
