The Professor Tadeusz Widła Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Forensic Science and Legislation
The Professor Tadeusz Widła Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Forensic Science and Legislation intends to consolidate and strengthen the research, scientific, organisational, and educational potential of the of the University of Silesia in Katowice. The aim is to conduct scientific projects, carry out research tasks and train students and doctoral students in the field of forensic sciences in the broadest sense, with particular emphasis on areas such as correct legislation, contract law (contracts in socio-economic transactions), legal interpretation, forensic science, computer forensics.
The Centre organises and coordinates interdisciplinary research and training activities carried out by employees of the University of Silesia, who can create interdisciplinary and research laboratories.
The Centre’s activity includes:
- initiating interdepartmental interdisciplinary research projects in the broadly understood forensic science;
- expanding and increasing the capacity of the university’s research tools and infrastructure;
- increasing the efficiency of research grant acquisition;
- increasing the teaching potential of the university through:
- accumulating the scientific and research output necessary for the development of interdisciplinary degree programmes, including postgraduate studies, as well as training courses;
- engaging with external stakeholders to establish a dual degree programme with a practical profile;
- conducting training activities;
- preparing research reports, expert opinions, and opinions commissioned by external entities, including courts, public prosecutors’ offices, police, and public administration bodies.
