Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE - science is closer

The idea of ​​the largest event popularizing science in Poland is to awaken the scientific curiosity of the participants of this unique festival, regardless of age and interests. During the last edition of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, as many as 79 events and 199 show stands were organized and space for over 1,400 exhibitors was made available. The festival area was visited by a total number of over 35,000 participants who took part in shows, experiments, presentations and discussions and were able to listen to the opinions of excellent speakers. 

The University of Silesia in Katowice is the originator of the festival and its leader. The University co-operates in this field with five Silesian universities and with the City of Katowice and the Upper Silesia and Zagłębie Metropolis as well as Silesia Province. The festival won recognition and the first place in the competition for the best communication and marketing initiatives of European universities (EUPRIO Awards 2019).

Do you know that…? 

The list of guests of the 3rd edition of SSF included e.g. NASA astronaut Nicole Stott , the first Polish astronaut Mirosław Hermaszewski, Nobel Prize winner Johannes Georg Bednorz, reporter Jacek Hugo-Bader and science promoters Wiktor Niedzicki and Tomasz Rożek.
