The University of Silesia in Katowice once again confirms its role as a reliable partner for the business sector.
The agreement between the University and STS covers research on analogue and digital games, gaming culture, and all aspects of how games function in society.
The University of Silesia’s approach to research is based on interdisciplinarity. The University does not shy away from difficult or complex topics, believing that thorough research into gambling-related phenomena is essential to effectively counteracting harmful behaviours.
The goal of this collaboration is to build bridges using the Research-To-Practice (R-T-P) model. This strategy assumes that the results of the work conducted at the university have a direct impact on the social and market environment. The real social impact of this initiative manifests in:
- promoting responsible gaming: designing solutions that increase the cognitive resilience of gamers,
- legislative support: developing standards and certifications that support the legal market and reduce the informal economy,
- R&D innovations: the development of technologies supporting individuals with disorders (gaming and gambling).
Thanks to access to the unique data and know-how of the STS operator, the University of Silesia gains the ability to conduct analyses on an unprecedented scale. This collaboration enables the transfer of knowledge to the game development sector and support in the design of educational programmes for various age groups. These activities aim not only to expand academic knowledge but, above all, to build a safe and conscious gaming culture in modern society.
