A graduate and lecturer of Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia in Katowice won the 31st edition of the Polityka Passport Award for film. The award was given for the sense of irony and daring breaking of schemes, some genre levity, yet the importance of the topic presented in the film Scarborn (pol. Kos), showing Poland, which is unknown in history textbooks.
The film by Paweł Maślona had its world premiere during last year’s Gdynia Film Festival. The film was then awarded with the Golden Lions for Best Film.
Paweł Maślona is a director and screenwriter, a graduate in Political Science at Jagiellonian University and Film and Television Directing at the USil Faculty of Radio and Television (now: Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia). His film Panic Attack is believed to be one of the most spectacular debuts in recent years, and his diploma etude Magma won several awards, including the Janusz ‘Kuba’ Morgenstern Award ‘Perspektywa’.
