The game ‘Kryminalne zagadki Katowic’ (Katowice Crime Scene Investigation) organised by the University of Silesia won first place in the Event category in Genius Universitatis 2025, the largest competition for creative university campaigns in Poland!

Ten teams of five and six people, a total of 56 participants, competed against each other in the role-playing game. The participants took on the role of detectives solving the mystery of the murder of Artur, an antique dealer from Katowice. The scriptwriters prepared documents, clues and numerous pieces of evidence, which the students analysed as part of the investigation. The most important element of the investigation was the questioning of witnesses and suspects by the participants. Each of the nine meetings was accompanied by open popular science lectures, which were attended by a total of 320 people. The project was carried out from 19 October to 21 November 2023 on the USil campus in Katowice.

We would like to thank and congratulate all those involved in the project and the actors from EST ERA art agency who played the roles of witnesses and suspects.

The Crime Mystery Game ‘Kryminalne zagadki Katowic’ (Katowice Crime Scene Investigation) project was co-financed by the Metropolis GZM as part of the Metropolitan Science Support Fund Programme 2022–2024.
