You can vote online for POP Science until 7 January 2020. The purpose of the competition is to honour science communicators. The contest includes three nationwide categories (video blog, blog or website, radio broadcast or podcast) and two categories under the common name “think globally, act locally”: lecturer and resident of the Silesian Voivodeship.

POP Science, organised for the first time, is an accompanying event of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, one of the largest popular science events in Poland, which is led by the University of Silesia in Katowice. The winners will be awarded with statuettes. They will also take part in a discussion.

The nominees in the “Think globally, act locally” category include lecturers of the University of Silesia in Katowice: Dr. Izabela Mrochen, Prof. Piotr Skubała, Dr. Aneta Szczygielska-Łaciak, Assoc. Prof. Katarzyna Ślebarska and Assoc. Prof. Edyta Widawska.

The podcast „Zagraj to jeszcze raz – radiowa opowieść o fenomenie muzyki filmowej” by Magda Miśka-Jackowska, journalist from RMF Classic who teaches students of the Branch of the University of Silesia in Cieszyn, has also been nominated.

Detailed information about the competition, including the presentation of nominees and voting link, is available in the POP Science tab on: www.slaskifestiwalnauki.pl.

The 4th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE will take place on 25-27 January 2020 in the International Congress Centre in Katowice under the motto: “Science is Closer”.
