On 19 August 2026, an agreement was signed for the construction of a modern multi-storey car park with one underground level on Aleja Roździeńskiego in Katowice for passenger cars, which will be available for use by staff, PhD students, and students of the University of Silesia.
The facility will offer 129 parking spaces, including facilities adapted to the needs of people with disabilities and charging points for electric cars.
The project is a key element of the campus’s transformation as part of the ‘Green Science Zone’ concept. The multi-storey car park has been designed to fit in with the concept of a green and friendly campus – the plans include the creation of a green area around the building and the planting of shrubs and trees.
Removing parking spaces from the heart of the campus will restore this space to students and staff; furthermore, as part of the newly planned changes to the layout of both outdoor and indoor areas, the project aims to improve access to cycling infrastructure.
The NDI Group will be the contractor for the project. Work is scheduled to begin in September 2026. The car park is due to be completed in the first quarter of 2028.
