University of Silesia’s Recreation Centre in Szczyrk
Located in the picturesque mountain range of Silesian Beskids, the USil Recreation Centre in the Town of Szczyrk is an ideal destination for anyone seeking rest and relaxation amidst the beauty of the mountains. Tucked away in the scenic Szczyrk-Czyrna area, beneath the peaks of Skrzyczne and Klimczok, the Centre is a dream base for those who love mountain trails and winter adventures.
The history of the USil Recreation Centre in Szczyrk dates back to 1976, when the University acquired the building from its previous owners, Antoni and Cecylia Wieczorek. The very object, however, was constructed between 1947 and 1950, on the initiative of Mr. Antoni’s parents. Following the University’s acquisition of the property, the facility underwent a careful and extensive renovation that lasted 18 months. Thanks to this effort, the very first guests were able to enjoy the Centre as early as 1978. Initially, the building operated under the name ‘University of Silesia’s House of Creative Work’, serving as a place for both leisure and scholarly activities. The name was changed in the late 1980s, giving the facility a brand-new identity as the University of Silesia’s Recreation Centre.
