At the 19th International Invention and Innovation Fair INTARG® 2026, the University of Silesia received an award for its invention, ‘Composition Improving Herbicide Penetration through the Surfaces of Aerial Plant Organs’, by Maciej Kapkowski, PhD (Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Silesia) and Michał Ludynia, PhD (Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Silesia). The distinction was awarded by the Polish Chamber of Patent Attorneys.
The INTARG® International Invention and Innovation Fair is a multi-industry event with a broad, interdisciplinary, national, and international reach.
The patent held by researchers from the University of Silesia relates to a composition that enhances the penetration of a herbicide through the surfaces of the above-ground parts of plants. The composition is an aqueous solution of a mixture of between one and six adjuvants combined with a herbicide. The invention may be used to enhance the transport of glyphosate through the surfaces of the above-ground parts of plants, with a view to improving the effectiveness of weed control in the Poaceae, Amaranthaceae, Asteraceae and Solanaceae families.
This is yet another distinction confirming the high level of inventive activity conducted at the University of Silesia in Katowice.
