Jan P. Matuszyński, PhD wins Eagle Award

Jan P. Matuszyński, PhD, graduate and lecturer from the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School received Polish Film Award: Eagle for the tv series The King. The eight-episode tv series was produced by Canal+ based on Szczepan Twardoch’s novel of the same title. It depicts a Jewish criminal underworld operating in Warsaw in 1937. The tv series was awarded in the category of Best Television Series.

Jan P. Matuszyński, PhD is an accomplished director. His film The Last Family from 2016 earned him a Golden Lion for Best Film, as well as an Eagle in the Discovery of the Year category for directing.

The official 23rd Eagle Awards ceremony took place in Warsaw on 21 June. During the gala, the film I never cry, directed by the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School graduate Piotr Domalewski, was also recognised. Awards were also given to: Piotr Sobociński jr for the Best Picture and Kinga Preis for the Best Supporting Female Role. Eagles are presented by the Polish Film Academy since 1999.
