Meeting of the Climate Education Team

On 14 January, the first meeting of the year of the Climate Education Team at the Ministry of National Education took place. The meeting began with an official presentation of appointments to new members by Deputy Minister Paulina Piechna-Więckiewicz, who chaired the meeting. The event was attended by experts from the University of Silesia:

  • Wiesław Banyś (Faculty of Humanities) – Rector of the University of Silesia in the 2008–2012 and 2012–2016 terms;
  • Piotr Skubała (Faculty of Natural Sciences);
  • Magdalena Ochwat, PhD (Faculty of Humanities) – Deputy Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Research on Humanistic Education.

During the meeting, Magdalena Ochwat, PhD and Prof. Piotr Skubała summarised the Team’s activities to date, while Klara Rościszewska and Marcin Popkiewicz presented the assumptions of the model school project. The results of the work on the core curriculum, conducted in collaboration with the Educational Research Institute, were also presented, for which the working group members received official thanks from the Ministry’s leadership.

Tomasz Wołowiec, recipient of the ‘Climate Person of the Year 2025” title, discussed the implementation of Eco-Workshop projects in Piła, while Małgorzata Snarska-Nieznańska, PhD from the Code for Green Foundation discussed the creation of integrated school workshops. The meeting concluded with a discussion of new directions for action, establishing the working groups’ workflow, and setting a date for the next meeting.
