By the Regulation of the Rector of the University of Silesia, Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, the USil Council for Climate and Environmental Crisis has been appointed.
Its tasks include developing suggestions of research and educational actions for the environment within and beyond the University, coordinating actions regarding decreasing the University’s negative impact on the environment, and cooperating with the scientific community, the academic community, non-governmental organisations and business representatives in terms of implementing new solutions for sustainable development of the society.
The appointments within the council are as follows: Chair – Prof. Piotr Skubała (Faculty of Natural Sciences); Vice-Chair – Edyta Sierka, PhD, DSc (College of Individual Interdisciplinary Studies, Faculty of Natural Sciences); Secretary – Magdalena Ochwat, PhD (Faculty of Humanities). The Council features, e.g. the USil Chancellor, representatives of all Faculties and representatives of students and PhD students.
The first meeting took place on Friday 22 March 2024. The meeting was attended also by Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, the Rector of the University of Silesia.
