Prof. Andrzej Kowalczyk honoured with a medal on the 30th anniversary of the Conference of Rectors of Universities in Poland

Prof. Andrzej Kowalczyk, Rector of the University of Silesia in 2016-2020, was honoured with a jubilee medal on the 30th anniversary of the Conference of Rectors of Universities in Poland. This distinction is an expression of gratitude for four years of Rector’s work for the Conference of Rectors of Universities in Poland and recognition of his contribution to the development of science and Polish universities.

Prof. Andrzej Kowalczyk is a specialist in the field of hydrogeology, water management and environmental geology. In 2016 he was elected the Chair of the Conference of Rectors of Universities in Silesia (KRUŚ) and Deputy Chair of the Regional Conference of Rectors of Academic Universities (RKRUA).

The distinction was awarded by Prof. Wojciech Nowak, MD, PhD, Chair of the Conference of Rectors of Universities in Poland. The activity of the Conference of Rectors of Universities in Poland mainly focuses on strengthening cooperation between the universities, preparing and presenting the positions in matters significant for the development of Polish science, higher education, as well as culture and education. The Conference currently associates twenty universities, including the University of Silesia in Katowice.
