Prof. Przemysław Marciniak Becomes a Visiting Professor at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz

Prof. Przemysław Marciniak from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Silesia in Katowice was invited by Prof. Johannes Pahlitzsch (Byzantine Studies) and Prof. Jan Kusber (Central European Studies) to the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz as Gasprofessor (visiting professor) in the winter semester 2020/2021.

During his stay at the University of Mainz Prof. Przemysław Marciniak will be working on his monograph dedicated to animals in Byzantium and preparing „Handbook of Animals in Byzantium” (together with Prof. Andreas Rhoby from the Austrian Academy of Sciences). Both publications will be released by Routledge. He will also conduct a seminar entitled „Byzanz im europäischen Theater: zwischen Geschichte und Literatur” („Byzantium in European Theatre: Between History and Literature”).

Professor’s stay at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is funded under the programme „Schwerpunkt Polen”.
