The Polish Science Gala took place during the celebration of Polish Science Day. During the Gala, Minister of National Education Przemysław Czarnek presented the awards to scientists of various fields of science. One of the awarded researchers was Prof. Ryszard Kaczmarek, a historian from the Faculty of Humanities.

The scientist was one of the laureates in the category of significant achievements in scientific activities. The assessment took into account research and development works that resulted in developing or improving new products, processes or services, as well as authorship and co-authorship of scientific publications.

Prof. Ryszard Kaczmarek is a science communicator and researcher in the history of Upper Silesia. The historian has published numerous works, including academic textbooks, articles and books, including Silesian Uprisings 1919-1920-1921 and Poles in the Wehrmacht.

The awards were presented during the Polish Science Gala. The winners were awarded for their merits in five categories: for significant achievements in the field of scientific, educational, implementation, organisational activities and for overall achievements.
