The academic community of the University of Silesia takes different opportunities to honour the best representatives of its circle. One of the ideas to appreciate the academic staff of the University of Silesia is Pro Scientia et Arte award, designed as a special way to honour the university employees for their outstanding scientific and artistic achievements.
This year, the award was given to Prof. Ryszard Kaczmarek from the Faculty of Humanities, representing humanities and arts, as well as Prof. Jan Kisiel from the Faculty of Science and Technology, representing science and technology.
The symbol of Pro Scientia et Arte award is the statuette – a bronze sculpture, part of “Uskrzydlone” (Winged) series made by Prof. Jan Herma from the Faculty of Arts and Educational Science in Cieszyn, as well as diploma printed with the traditional typographical technique on handmade paper. The award is presented during the official inauguration of academic year.
