Award for Prof. Tadeusz Sławek

Prof. Tadeusz Sławek, Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice in 1996-2002, has received “Tabulka” – honorary award of Public Library in Ruda Śląska and „Optimus Auctor Silesianus MMXX” title. The distinctions were awarded during the “Kakauszale – V Fest Literacki” (a literary festival).

Prof. Tadeusz Sławek is a poet, translator, essayist, literary scholar, winner of multiple prestigious awards, including Wojciech Korfanty Award, “Solidarność” Literary Award and Lux ex Silesa Award. In 2007 he was granted Pro Scientia et Arte university award, whereas in 2017 he received the prestigious Adam Mickiewicz Award for his outstanding achievements to the benefit of Polish literature and culture. He was also honoured with a Golden Cross of Merit and Medal of the National Education Commission for his lifetime achievement and social commitment.
