Project of Prof. Lucyna Sadzikowska receives financing from the National Programme for the Development of the Humanities

Project ‘Critical edition of letters and archival writing materials of prisoners of concentration camps (Stutthof, Gross-Rosen, Auschwitz)’ of Lucyna Sadzikowska, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof. from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia in Katowice was qualified for funding under the National Programme for the Development of the Humanities (National Heritage – call for proposals 12). The funding amounts to PLN 1,120,944.34.

The main goal of the project is the scientific development of a unique source materials, important for the Polish cultural heritage, their protection, dissemination and inclusion in the living tradition of national culture. The material basis of the research are texts written by prisoners of concentration camps (Stutthof, Gross-Rosen, Auschwitz). The project aims to transcribe, translate from German, develop and provide a critical, historical and philological tool, and bilingual publication of a set of letters, documents, as well as other preserved non-textual personal documents.
