Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, the Rector of the University of Silesia, has been honoured with the Gold Medal of Merit for Polish Science Zasłużony dla Nauki Polskiej Sapientia et Veritas. This is one of the highest decorations awarded in the academic community, honouring individuals who—through their scientific—teaching and organisational activities, make a special contribution to the development of higher education, the dissemination of knowledge and the reinforcement of the values of truth and wisdom in public life.
Altogether 5 rectors and the Marcin Krupa, PhD, the Mayor of Katowice, were decorated during the Interuniversity Inauguration of the Academic Year 2025/2026. The award recognises each laureate’s personal achievements and commitment to the development of the City of Science, and symbolically highlights the role played by universities in the development of a knowledge society.
Our sincere congratulations to the Rector and to all the award winners. We wish to express our gratitude for their commitment, dedication, drive and sense of responsibility in shaping the future of higher education, as well as for inspiring future generations to seek truth and act with wisdom.
