The revitalisation of a University of Silesia building at ul. Bankowa 5 in Katowice has been finished. This refurbished space is a home to spinPLACE – a regional and inter-university centre for creativity, coworking, prototyping and animating R&D projects; the centre has been funded by the European Union within the Regional Operational Programme for the Silesian Voivodeship.

spinPLace will be a place for fostering cooperation and supporting innovation at the University of Silesia and within the Academic Consortium Katowice City of Science, available for the entire academic community and its environment. Its space will be open for networking, conferences and meetings for the organisation of various sorts of events and initiatives.

The activities of this centre for creativity and co-working will be focused around supporting initiatives with the external environment in terms of projects, initiatives and stimulating entrepreneurship in its broad sense. It will host such undertakings as the Silesia Design School, the Spin Business Accelerator, the R&D Fuse, the Start-Up Mill, the Science Cafe and the 3D Prototyping Centre; hence, it will become a home to University of Silesia units implementing actions related to the collaboration with the environment and boosting entrepreneurship.

In case you have any questions related to booking and using spinPLACE, feel free to send them to transfer@us.edu.pl. Detailed rules and regulations in regard to sharing the space will be released in the near future. Although the centre has been operating since late December, its official opening is planned for late February.
