On 15 April 2026, at the invitation of Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, Rector of the University of Silesia, a working lunch was held with the ambassadors of the Gulf Arab states in Poland.
The United Arab Emirates was represented by His Excellency Mohamed Al Harbi, Kuwait by His Excellency Saad Al Mehaini, Qatar by His Excellency Saoud Al Mahmoud, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the Deputy Ambassador, Mr Saad Al Dghawayan.
The meeting was attended by representatives of NAWA: Director Damian Syjczak and Wioleta Lewandowska, as well as Jakub Sławek, PhD, the initiator of Gulf House at the University of Silesia.
The aim of the meeting was to present opportunities for cooperation with the University of Silesia, as well as with the Academic Consortium comprising seven higher education institutions, and more broadly with the Silesian region. In addition, the participants were introduced to the concept of Gulf House, recently established within the University, which is intended to serve as a vehicle for supporting, coordinating and initiating cooperation with the Gulf Arab states.
In the near future, several ideas for cooperation will be developed, which could be implemented before the end of this year.
