The meeting between Prof. Ryszard Koziołek—Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice—and Prof. Tetiana Marena—Acting Rector of Mariupol State University—took place on 24 March 2026. The meeting covered the need for further collaboration between both universities, which is manifested by the Mariupol State University Centre at the University of Silesia in Katowice. The Centre is to take actions to strengthen and foster collaboration between the two universities in terms of science and education, as well as support the Ukrainian community in Silesia.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the role of Mariupol State University in the Transform4Europe Alliance, explored prospects for future projects and initiatives, and reviewed the cooperation to date.
The University of Silesia in Katowice was also represented by Prof. Tomasz Pietrzykowski – Vice-Rector for International and Domestic Cooperation; Yuliana Palagnyuk, PhD, DLitt, from the Faculty of Social Sciences – Coordinator of the Mariupol State University Centre at the University of Silesia in Katowice; and Anna Olender-Staśkiewicz – Head of the Transform4Europe Office. Mariupol State University was also represented by Prof. Iryna Sikorska
