Polish Judges’ Association „Iustitia”, which is chaired by Assoc. Prof. Krystian Markiewicz, Professor of the University of Silesia in Katowice from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Silesia, has been nominated by Norwegian Labour Party MP Jette F. Christensen to Nobel Peace Prize 2021. As the Norwegian MP wrote in her letter: “My nomination this year is for the fight to preserve democracy as a form of government in Europe based on principles. When human rights, rule of law and freedom of speech are threatened, our common peace is threatened”.

Nominations for Nobel Peace Prize were accepted until 31 January. The candidates can be submitted e.g. by members of parliaments and governments, as well as Nobel Prize winners in the previous years. The Nobel Pease Prize winner will be announced at the beginning of October.
