The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) has announced the results of the second edition of the Ulam Programme, under which scientists from foreign institutions are invited to cooperate with Polish universities and research units.
The scholarships were granted to 76 researchers. Four of them will be hosted by the University of Silesia:
- Manoj Kumar Solanki (India, biological sciences), project entitled „Elucidating the mechanisms that shape the spatial architecture of the nucleus in a natural and resynthesised allotetraploid model grass Brachypodium hybridum and their pregenitors”, tutor: Prof. Robert Hasterok,
- Pirko Jalakas (Estonia, biological sciences), project entitled „(DEFOG) Deciphering ERA1 gene function in barley using Functional Genomics”, tutor: Dr Agata Daszkowska-Golec, Professor of the University of Silesia,
- Alexander V. Khramov (Russia, biological sciences), project entitled „The lost world of ancient pollinators in the light of advanced microscopic technics”, tutor: Prof. Piotr Węgierek,
- Rocío Pellegrino Vidal (Italy, chemical sciences), project entitled „Application of untargeted HPLC to the proteomic analysis of cereals: classification and characterization of stress resistant varieties”, tutor: Prof. Beata Walczak.
The purpose of Stanisław Ulam programme is to increase the internationalisation level of Polish universities and scientific institutions. The scholarship winners will begin their foreign scientific visit in January 2021.
