The School of Polish Language and Culture of the University of Silesia in Katowice took the highest place in the accreditation procedure of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) for the implementation of Polish language courses in the years 2023-2026. The University of Silesia unit was once again the only centre in Poland to receive accreditation in all categories. It obtained the right to conduct remote and on-site summer schools, a preparatory course for undertaking studies in Polish and a methodological course for foreign teachers.

When evaluating the applications, the expert team took into account, among others: the centre’s experience in conducting Polish language courses for foreigners, assessed the teaching staff and teachers conducting classes in programme-specific subjects, the course programme, as well as the applicant’s technical and organisational potential in terms of content.

For over 30 years, the School of Polish Language and Culture of the University of Silesia has been educating foreigners in Poland and abroad, conducting postgraduate qualification studies in teaching Polish culture and Polish as a foreign language, as well as organising seminars and conferences devoted to Polish language and culture, teaching Polish as a foreign language and/or second language as well as translations. It is also a centre authorised to conduct certification exams in Polish as a foreign language at all levels.

The list of accredited universities is available on the NAWA website.
