Due to the call for proposals procedure by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, the School of Polish Language and Culture made it to the prestigious group of 10 universities eligible to carry out language courses for foreigners who want to take up studies in the Polish language in the academic year 2021/2022. The endeavours to organise such courses were available only to those units that have prior received the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange accreditation for realisation of Polish courses for 2021-2023.
The language course is addressed to foreigners planning to take up 1st cycle, 2nd cycle, or 3rd cycle studies at Polish universities. The curriculum proposed by the School of Polish Language and Culture includes intensive learning of Polish as a foreign language and the course block of propaedeutic subjects, which are related to candidates’ preliminary declarations regarding their future degree programmes. Propaedeutic course blocks are conducted by experienced lecturers from the University of Silesia faculties and partner universities, who cooperate with the School of Polish Language and Culture on a daily basis. Apart from foreign language courses, lectures, and seminars, the beneficiaries of the programme take part in classes on the knowledge of Poland, school trips regarding culture, a cycle of integration and adaptive meetings, as well as meetings on the specificity of the high education system in Poland.
In the last academic year 2020/2021, Polish language courses carried out by the School of Polish Language and Culture were attended by over 50 NAWA scholarship holders (the Banach Scholarship Programme and the Lukasiewicz Scholarship Programme) from, e.g. Nigeria, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Palestine, Yemen, Pakistan, Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
