The School of Polish Language and Culture of the University of Silesia received accreditation for 2026–2029 from Karolina Zioło-Pużuk, PhD, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education and Damian Syjczak, PhD, Deputy Director of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). The University of Silesia is the only institution in Poland to have received full accreditation for all types of courses offered by NAWA..
The accreditation was received by Prof. Jolanta Tambor, Director of the School, and Aleksandra Achtelik, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof., Deputy Director and Chair of the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language.
After the ceremony, NAWA Internationalisation Day began, featuring two panels. One of them, titled ‘The Role of University Centres for Teaching Polish as a Foreign Language’, featured a presentation by Prof. A. Achtelik, showcasing the achievements and prospects of the School of Polish Language and Culture of the University of Silesia and commenting on the role of certification in the popularisation of the Polish language internationally.
