‘The most innovative and creative university in Poland’

The University of Silesia has received a distinction in the competition for ‘The most innovative and creative university in Poland’. The awards ceremony was held on 2 June 2011 in Poznań. The University was represented by Ms Krystyna Pienta, deputy chancellor for logistics management, who collected a statuette and diploma in the category ‘Creation of employment opportunities’.


The second edition of the competition, organised by the Academic Information Centre in Poznań, grouped approximately 40 public and private schools of higher education. Among the evaluation criteria were, e.g. the Internet system for the registration of candidates, management and running of e-dean’s office, electronic credit books, virtual access to library catalogues, university official websites, appliances aiding the didactic process, the use of innovative and modern technologies during classes and lectures, conducting of e-learning and blended learning programmes, or equipment of lecture halls and laboratories. The universities were also evaluated according to cooperation with employers, activities of their academic entrepreneurship incubators, technology parks, establishment of spin-off companies, organization of apprenticeships, placements, career fairs, career days and additional courses for students, as well as promoting the best students and running and launching of programmes ordered by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
