Award date: 28 April 2022
USil Senate resolution date: 22 March 2022 (Resolution No. 231)
The procedure for awarding the honorary doctorate degree was initiated by the request of the Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice
Prof. Román Tauler Ferré realises his own scientific activity at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research at the Spanish National Research Council. His research is directed at chemometrics – a discipline integrating knowledge in chemistry, statistics, maths, and computer science.
His interests include, in particular, the improvement of a method of multiparameter signals deconvolution with the use of the iterative least-squares method, which allows for the isolation of useful information directly unavailable due to the interference of signals from all components of the mixture. It is successfully used in environmental and analytical chemistry as well as balance and kinetics of solutions.
