Since the inception of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) in 2018, the University of Silesia has received funding for 70 institutional projects through its competitions. This result gives us 4th place in the country – behind the University of Warsaw, the Jagiellonian University, and the AGH University of Krakow.

The University of Silesia is a clear regional leader in this regard. Another university from our voivodeship has received funding for 30 institutional projects.

This funding directly translates into the development of the University of Silesia’s scientific potential, increased mobility of our staff and students, and building strong international academic partnerships. Among the projects conducted at our University that received the highest funding were: a research project on the quality of solid fuels produced from biomass and their impact on the environment and the health of users (PLN 2,354,600), an educational project supporting internationalisation entitled ‘International from the Beginning’ (PLN 1,994,977), as well as summer courses and preparatory courses for studies in Poland, with funding exceeding PLN 1 million for each project.

Funded endeavours also include: the educational project ‘GAME LAB – International Laboratory for Game Studies and Design’, as part of which an international laboratory for game research and design was established; the University of Silesia’s participation in the World Expo in Osaka in 2025, which contributed to building the brand of our University and Polish science; as well as projects showing solidarity with Ukraine: ‘Solidarity with Ukraine’ and ‘All for One – Bridge to the Future’, through which we supported the Mariupol State University.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all project teams and individuals involved in the preparation and implementation of applications! Your commitment builds the international prestige of the University of Silesia.
