The University of Silesia in Katowice secured 14th place overall in the very first edition of the nationwide ‘Polish Universities Ranking 2026’, developed by the Work & Science Foundation in collaboration with PP Publishing. This result translated into a high 7th place among classical universities. The ranking lists 101 higher education institutions.
It was compiled on the basis of six measurable criteria, focusing primarily on research activity, the quality of academic staff and institutional effectiveness. The methodology took into account factors such as the number of laureates of the prestigious national scientific awards, the representation of researchers in elite lists of the most influential scientists, the output of scientific publications, and the number of doctoral candidates enrolled in doctoral schools.
