At the beginning of 2025 the University of Silesia in Katowice became the Scientific Partner of the Industrial-Scientific Consortium in the field of catalysis, “NEXT-CATALYSIS.” The leader of the Consortium is ORLEN S.A.

The aim of the partnership is to foster conceptual and research-and-development collaboration to benefit the Consortium’s members, taking into account both the scientific and industrial environments. The primary focus is the development of innovative catalytic materials for industrial processes conducted by the ORLEN Group, as well as the advancement of catalysis as a field of science critical to industry.

The Consortium Partners intend to establish lasting business relationships between industry and the scientific community, as well as to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and the latest trends in the field of catalysis. The collaboration aims to contribute to the education of future scientists and R&D professionals while also enhancing the competencies of employees of the Consortium’s leader and Scientific Partners.

The Consortium’s core activities will be carried out in line with a defined Research Programme, which will address the needs of the corporation while also including R&D projects proposed by the Scientific Partners involved in the initiative. Each technological solution developed within these R&D projects is expected to meet criteria specified by the Consortium leader.

In addition to the University of Silesia in Katowice, the Consortium’s scientific partners include the Silesian University of Technology and the University of Warsaw.
