According to the annual report for 2025 issued by the Polish Patent Office, the University of Silesia in Katowice took a high 17th position in the ranking of all domestic and foreign applicants (not just universities) based on the number of patents for inventions granted in 2025. In total, our University obtained 26 patents last year.

It is worth noting that among classical universities, the University of Silesia once again took first place.

Of all Polish universities, only a few technical universities (technology, agriculture, natural sciences, or medicine) and a few polytechnic universities had more patents granted.
