Goal and Mission
Understanding Means Shaping the Future
For over a decade, the Arab countries of the Gulf have been strategically and consistently building their soft power and strengthening their position as global leaders in the modern world.
Gulf House was established at the University of Silesia to inform, comment, analyse, and explore opportunities for cooperation between Poland and the Arab countriesof the Gulf in the areas of investment, technology, science, and energy. At the same time, it strives to bring the realities of the region closer to Polish society by deepening knowledge of its culture, history, and society.
Gulf House’s ambition is to become a policy center based on the expert knowledge of individuals for whom the Arab countries of the Gulf are a passion and a field of many years of experience, and above all, who see the region as a tremendous opportunity for the global expansion of Polish business, technology, and know-how. Gulf House aims to serve as an advisory and informational voice for Polish political and business elites, and to lobby for expanded bilateral cooperation between Poland and the Gulf, including in non-business areas such as science and culture.
Gulf House has a Council composed of individuals with diverse and interdisciplinary experience, ranging from scientific foundations to business. Why the University of Silesia and why Katowice? – because over the past few years, much has been achieved in relations between the United Arab Emirates and Katowice, which inspired us to create this expert platform. The University of Silesia, the Polish Society for the Support of Entrepreneurship, the city of Katowice, the Upper Silesian Fund, and the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship are the actors who supported this new beginning and believe that consistent work will yield interesting results.
