For the third time, public universities in Katowice forming the Academic Consortium Katowice City of Science will inaugurate the academic year together. The interuniversity ceremony will take place on 27 September 2024 at 4.00 p.m. in the concert hall of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice.
What is more, in the first half of October, celebrations will be held during which the new academic year will be inaugurated by individual faculties of the University of Silesia.

- 3 October 2024, 11.00 a.m. – inauguration of the academic year at the Faculty of Theology,
- 7 October 2024, 11.00 a.m. – inauguration of the academic year at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School,
- 2 October 2024, 10.00 a.m. – inauguration of the academic year at the Faculty of Social Sciences,
- 1 October 2024, 2.00 p.m. – inauguration of the academic year at the Doctoral School of the University of Silesia,
- 15 October 2024 – inauguration of the academic year at the International Environmental Doctoral School.
